Terms of participation
- The organizer of the "Retsch Scientific Challenge" is Retsch GmbH, Retsch-Allee 1-5, 42781 Haan.
- The competition is not affiliated with LinkedIn and is not sponsored or endorsed by LinkedIn.
- Any person 18 years of age or older is eligible to participate. Employees of Retsch GmbH or companies affiliated with Retsch GmbH, as well as their family members are excluded from participation in the competition. Each person may participate in the competition only once. Participation is only possible in one's own name.
- Participation via competition clubs, agencies or automated services is excluded.
- In order to participate in the competition, the participant must register via the online form at https://www.retsch.com/news/scientific-challenge and upload file attachments via the online form. When registering using the online form, participants must provide their first name, last name, the country in which the employer is located, and their business email address. Only those will participate who fill out the form completely and upload the required content.
- Closing date for submitting the online form is January 31st 2024.
- A total of 9 winners will be determined. The prizes go to the participants whose research projects are evaluated as the most promising by the Retsch jury. This will be determined by Retsch GmbH based on the information provided.
- The following prizes are available:
1st prize: A PM300 or MM 400 as basic unit
2nd prize: A RETSCH goods voucher worth 1000 €
3rd prize: A RETSCH goods voucher worth 500 €
- Winners will be contacted by email for the purpose of prize notification and processing.
- The prizes are not negotiable or transferable. Payment of the prizes in cash is excluded.
- Participation and the chances of winning do not depend in any way on the purchase of goods or the use of paid or free services of the organizer or other companies involved in the organization of the competition.
- Selected photos of the participants as well as their first and last names will be published on the LinkedIn account of the organizer ("Retsch - Miling & Sieving") as well as on the website of the organizer.
- The organizer reserves the right to replace the respective prize with another prize with a similar value. No liability is accepted for loss of data, in particular by way of data transmission and other technical defects. The organizer is not liable for the availability of the https://www.retsch.com/news/scientific-challenge website.
- The organizer reserves the right to exclude from this competition any entrant who provides false, misleading or fraudulent information when registering for the competition, tampers with the Contest, attempts to tamper with the Contest, otherwise violates these Terms and Conditions, or otherwise unfairly and/or dishonestly attempts to influence the competition, including, without limitation, by interfering with, threatening and/or harassing employees or other entrants. The organizer reserves the right to terminate the competition at any time.
- If one of the above-mentioned reasons for exclusion is present, the organizer is entitled to deny prizes and to reclaim any prizes already handed out or to demand compensation for lost value.

In this data protection notice, we would like to inform you transparently about the extent to which we collect personal data and how we use and pass on this data when you participate in the competition "RETSCH Scientific Challenge". What information do we process, for what purpose and on what legal basis? Your consent
- Retsch GmbH uses and processes the personal data that you provide directly to us for the following purposes and on the following legal bases. The participant expressly agrees that the data submitted by him may be collected and processed for the purpose of implementing and processing the competition.
- Data category: first name, last name, business email address, photo of the participant uploaded to participate in the competition via the entry form
- Purpose: Enabling participation and processing of the competition "Retsch Scientific Challenge"
The legal basis for the processing of the data is the consent of the participants (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a) DS-GVO) and the processing for the performance of the contract (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. b) DS-GVO). The consent can be revoked at any time by sending an e-mail to info@retsch.com or to the above postal address of Retsch GmbH. A corresponding revocation has a direct impact on the permissibility of the processing of your personal data as soon as you have expressed it to us. In this case, the participant can no longer take part in the competition. In addition, the participant agrees that the e-mail address deposited by him may be used for the purpose of sending messages in connection with the competition.
The participant also agrees that photos uploaded by him, as well as the first and last name of the participant may be published on the LinkedIn account of the organizer ("Retsch - Miling & Sieving") and on the website of the organizer. We delete your personal data as soon as they are no longer required for the relevant purposes. Your personal data will therefore be deleted after the complete execution of the competition, unless you have consented to a longer storage period or we are legally obliged to store certain data due to obligations to provide evidence and to retain data (up to ten years), including under the German Commercial Code, the German Fiscal Code or the German Money Laundering Act, or we must retain the data for the period in which claims can be made against us (e.g. statutory limitation period of three or thirty years).

Data Retention. Duration of storage
We store your personal data for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which your personal data was collected and processed. If there is no longer a legitimate business need for us to process your personal data, we will delete your personal data. Legal retention obligations remain unaffected.

By submitting the online form, the participant accepts the conditions of participation and data protection information and agrees that he may be contacted by the organizer by e-mail for the purpose of processing the competition, as well as a photo of him/her as well as the first and last name of the participant on the LinkedIn account of the organizer ("Retsch - Miling & Sieving") as well as on the website of the organizer may be published.
